Timeline - Past Editions

2018

The 8th edition of the ANYF was held under the theme, ” Let young women lead” and focused on youth-led innovations and women venturing into leadership positions ahead of the 2021 general elections.

2017

The 7th edition of the ANYF was held under the theme, “Youth Rights, Employment and Peace.” And had forums of peace and security, sexual reproductive health and a youth parliament session. This is alongside skills workshops, side events, and exhibitions.

2016

The 6th ANYF was held under the theme, “Championing Youth Individual Initiative for Job Creation,” and focused on youth innovations and opportunities in agriculture, highlighted opportunities for youth in the oil sector and brought together youth with their representatives and researchers in the agricultural sector.

2015

The 5th edition came at a time when Uganda was in the heat of the 2016 general election preparations and was held under the theme, “The big ballot: participate, influence and change.” It was dedicated to celebrating youth civic power energies and enthusiasm.At this festival,the launch of the youth manifesto 2016-2021 was done.

2014

The 4th ANYF was held under the theme “Smart Choices for Youth,” and engaged young people and stakeholders in discussions around critical choices that needed to be made in areas of employment, participation, and reproductive health. The Youth Livelihood The programme was also reviewed

2013

Held under the theme “Changing The Game,” the 3rd edition of the ANYF was at the National Theatre and showcased young people who are leading change in their communities and profiled organisations and opportunities available for them in different sectors.

2012

The 2nd Annual National Youth Festival was held at the Old Kampala Sports Grounds under the theme “Imagine, Innovate, Inspire.” And featured creative works of young people and various performances such as acrobatics and hip-hop music.

2011

The Annual National Youth Festival, ANYF, was launched at the Kololo Independence Grounds as a platform for young people championed by young people to showcase their work and innovations to a targeted audience of mainly their political representatives and key government officials.

The 9th Annual Youth Festival
August 2023

Don't miss this year's National Youth Festival scheduled for 2 days from 22nd-23rd August 2023.

The Annual National Youth Festival is an extraordinary youth meeting between ordinary young people, elected representatives and key stakeholders to share ideas about current youth issues across the social, economic and political divide in Uganda. At the festival, young people (16 to 30) are able to freely interact and engage with politicians, diplomatic missions, academia, media, the private sector and civil society through customized debates, speeches, exhibitions, and workshops 
 
Since its founding in 2011, the festival has attracted close to 3000 youth and 100 exhibitors every year. more than 50 high-profile politicians and key stakeholders participating. The festival is convened by Open Space Center in collaboration with other partners
